Screening for Plagiarism

Applied Management, Business and Finance (AMBF) is strictly committed to upholding academic integrity and publication ethics. Every submitted manuscript will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin software. A maximum similarity index of 20% is permitted; manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be automatically declined or returned to the author for correction.

DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is the act of using another author's work, ideas, processes, results, or words without proper permission, credit, or acknowledgment. AMBF considers plagiarism a serious ethical offense and will take firm action against authors who commit any form of plagiarism.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

1. Word-for-Word Plagiarism — Borrowing another author's language verbatim without using quotation marks or citing the source correctly.
2. Source Plagiarism — Using the ideas of others without giving recognition or citing the source explicitly.
3. Plagiarism of Authorship — Presenting another author's work as one's own.
4. Self-Plagiarism — Authors publishing articles in more than one journal by recycling papers, or reusing significant portions of their pre-published research without disclosure. When citing one's own work, substantial new content and contribution must be presented.
5. Partial Plagiarism — Content compiled from multiple sources with extensive rephrasing but without proper attribution.

SCREENING PROCEDURE

1. Initial Screening — Upon submission, the Editorial Team conducts a Turnitin similarity check before forwarding the manuscript to reviewers.
2. Threshold — The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the author for revision or rejected without further review.
3. Re-Submission Check — Revised manuscripts may undergo a second plagiarism check to ensure compliance with the threshold.
4. Post-Publication Detection — If plagiarism is detected after publication, AMBF will conduct an investigation. The author's institution and funding agencies may be notified, and the article may be formally retracted depending on the severity.

AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITY

— Ensure submitted work is entirely original
— Properly cite all sources, ideas, and prior research
— Obtain permission when reusing copyrighted material
— Disclose any overlap with previously published work
— Use a plagiarism checker before submission as a self-check

SANCTIONS FOR PLAGIARISM

Authors found to have committed plagiarism — whether detected during review or after publication — may face the following consequences depending on the severity:

— Manuscript rejection
— Mandatory revision and resubmission
— Formal retraction of published article
— Notification to the author's institution and funding agencies
— Blacklisting from future submissions to AMBF
